Richard
Richard Brown (Surrey Walking Club) has been an enthusiastic participant in ultra-distance events for over 30 years.
Richard has completed 135 events of 100 miles (161kms) or more, winning many of these. He has completed many multi-day events on the track, road and cross country.

UK 100 mile (161kms) walking record of 16 hrs 50 mins (the second fastest time ever recorded) set at St Oedenrode, Netherlands, in 1993

UK 200 Km record of 21 hrs 42 mins set at Bazancourt, France in 1992

Centurion 100 mile race winner a record ten times

Only the second British walker to complete the 542 Kms Paris to Colmar event, with two successful completions in 1990 and 1992

The sixth person in modern times to exceed 400 Km in a 48 hour event (401 Km at Surgeres in 1991) which remains the British record

Previous UK 6 day road record (832 Km New York 1988)

World best for running the length of Ireland (375 miles in 4 days 12 hours in 1988) and the UK Lands End to John O’Groats (835 miles in 10 days 2 hours in 1995)

Held World M60 age group best performance for 6 days (705 Kms in Athens in 2010) – this remains the British record - and M65 World Best (654kms in Balantonfured in 2012) – this remains the British record

Former member of UK ultra-distance running and walking teams at international championships

Team Manager of the UK 24 hour running squads for 10 years including managing the men’s squad to be World Champions in 2014.
